About the Item

Four carved wooden stools, Tuscany, Charles X period, first half of the 19th Century Elegant group of four Tuscan stools in finely carved wood, Charles X period, first half of the 19th century. Each stool is made of solid cherrywood, while the circular seat rail is veneered in the same wood species, as is the shaped stretcher connecting the legs. Each piece features a padded seat upholstered in a light-coloured fabric, which harmonises beautifully with the warm tone of the wood. The smooth seat rail rests on three scrolled, arched legs carved in the round and crowned at the top with powerful projecting griffin heads, rendered with remarkable precision. The legs end in feral feet, which reinforce the zoomorphic character of the whole. The three legs of each stool converge towards the central structural stretcher, ensuring excellent stability while giving the profile a light and graceful appearance. The compact, flowing lines, together with the refined carved details, make these stools ideal both as conversation seats and as decorative accent pieces in a classical or eclectic contemporary interior. The group is perfect used together around a small table or freely distributed throughout a room, while still maintaining a strong visual unity and a highly decorative presence, especially rare to find in a matching set of four.
