About the Item

A fine and early vase by Isgard Moje-Wohlgemuth and Klaus Moje from 1979, when the two were still a couple, living and working in Hamburg. The blank painted by Moje-Wohlgemuth who applied an organic, flowing composition with dissolved metal compounds in beige, violett and silver grey before the piece was placed into the annealer to become a work of art initially recognizable as that of the Mojes. The base with coldwork by Klaus Moje. The shifting metallic hues contrast beautifully with the elegant, slender silhouette of the vase. The vessel is signed and dated "Moje 1979". For more information on the two artists, whose ways separated in 1980 onwards to two impressive solo careers cf.: Dan Klein, "Artists in Glass - Late twentieth Century Masters in Glass", Beazley, London, 2001.
