This striking geometric abstract painting by Gunda Hass, dated 1990, is an acrylic on canvas composed of interlocking geometric forms, contrasting planes and a carefully balanced arrangement of colour. A luminous turquoise circle anchors the composition, intersected by deep blue rectangular shapes and a prominent golden-yellow triangle. Subtle variations of teal, pale mint, ivory and dark blue create a sense of depth, while translucent-looking angular forms in the background suggest architectural space.
The painting combines the visual clarity of geometric abstraction with a distinctly architectural sensibility. Its crisp edges, overlapping shapes and simplified volumes evoke the modernist exploration of geometry, spatial perception and colour relationships. The warm yellow triangle provides a strong focal point against the cooler blue-green palette, giving the composition both energy and equilibrium.
Executed in acrylic on canvas, the work benefits from the medium's capacity for clean colour fields and precise geometric definition. Its substantial 100 × 80 cm format makes it well suited to contemporary interiors, minimalist spaces and modernist-inspired collections. Presented in an original blue floating frame designed by the artist, this 1990 abstract painting offers collectors and interior designers a distinctive example of late twentieth-century geometric abstraction.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gunda Hass is associated with Gunda Hass-Gonschorr, née Hass, a German artist born in Berlin in 1940. Gunda Hass, also known as Gunda Hass-Gonschorr, is a German artist born in Berlin on 3 November 1940. She studied at the Kunstschule Hamburg from 1957 to 1961, establishing an artistic foundation that encompassed formal composition and visual expression. In 1961–1962, she designed stained-glass windows for the Waldkirche in Timmendorfer Strand, one of her first major artistic commissions. The windows demonstrate her interest in strong colours and graphic stylisation.
Between 1962 and 1974, Hass taught creative practice to children, young people and adults. From 1972 to 1981, she directed Galerie Happ in Berlin-Charlottenburg, combining artistic experience with involvement in the gallery world. Since 1982, she has worked as an independent artist and has been based in Berlin.
Her documented work includes stained glass and painting. The present acrylic canvas, created in 1990, reveals an interest in geometric organisation, contrasting colours and the construction of pictorial space. Its precise shapes and architectural arrangement place it in dialogue with modernist and geometric abstraction.
