About the Item

An exceptional pair of Art Deco ruby and diamond double clips, circa 1930s, beautifully crafted in platinum and displaying the bold geometry and sophisticated contrast characteristic of the period. Each clip is centered by a striking floral cluster of richly saturated cabochon rubies, arranged around a carré cut diamond. The ruby clusters are accented by additional diamonds and surmount an elegant openwork platinum motif set with transitional cut and baguette cut diamonds, with small ruby accents providing an additional touch of color. The combination of smooth, voluptuous ruby cabochons with crisp geometric diamonds creates a particularly dramatic Art Deco effect. The sculptural construction and dimensional setting allow the stones to sit prominently above the platinum framework, giving the clips an impressive presence when worn. The pair retains its original double-clip construction, allowing each jewel to be worn individually as a dress clip or the two to be worn together as a coordinated pair.
