A Black Marble side table is hand-carved from Black Marble and shaped around a simplified mehrab arch form — The piece combines strong architectural geometry with natural marble character. Works equally as side table, accent table, drink table, or pedestal table. The carved opening creates contrast between solid mass and negative space. Natural stone variation ensures each piece is individually distinctive. The form integrates naturally into Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, and Contemporary interiors.
The smooth stone surface carries the natural veining of the marble through the arch pedestal form. The arch opening creates a play of positive and negative space — the carved void as present as the material itself. The polished surface reflects light cleanly along all faces.
The piece begins as a solid block of marble that is shaped and refined by hand before the architectural opening is carved. Artisans establish the overall silhouette first, then cut and finish the arch form using traditional stone-carving tools. The simplified geometry requires precise control of proportion, edge definition, and surface consistency. Once carving is complete, the stone is hand-finished and polished to reveal the natural depth and character of the marble.
Measuring 12"×12"×16"H, the piece functions as a side table, drink table, accent table, pedestal table, end table, decorative object, or sculptural furniture element. Available in Black Marble and White Marble. Made entirely to order.
Designed by Paul Mathieu for the Stephanie Odegard Collection. The Jahangir II Side Table develops the architectural themes explored throughout the Jahangir series, focusing on the enduring visual power of the mehrab arch. Rather than reproducing historical forms literally, the design distills architectural references into a sculptural furniture object defined by silhouette, proportion, and material. Produced in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Produced in Rajasthan.
Customization is at the heart of what we do. Custom sizes, finishes, and bespoke designs are available upon request. Whether you are working from a sketch, technical drawing, reference image, or an initial concept, our team would be delighted to collaborate with you and help bring your vision to life.
Made to order, each piece may show slight variations that are a natural result of handmade production in stone. Every block of marble or stone is unique, so colour, veining, and surface character will vary from piece to piece.
The images shown in this listing may be photographed in different lighting conditions or may include illustrations created to represent the available stone options. We warmly encourage customers to request an individual sample or a complete sample set to experience the colour, tone, and character of each stone firsthand.
None of our marble work is treated with an added finish, which allows the marble or stone to age naturally over time. If required, pieces can be coated with a suitable protective layer to help preserve their original look.
Marble is somewhat like glass in that it is strong and long lasting when handled properly but can chip if mishandled. Pieces must never be rolled, pulled, pushed, or slid across any surface. All stone table tops and surfaces that come into contact with oily liquids or food are subject to permanent staining.
Our solid marble pieces are durable and withstand typical weather conditions including high heat, rain, and freezing. Intricately carved or inlaid marble may be more vulnerable to extreme temperatures and freeze thaw cycles. Like any natural material, marble can be affected by acid rain and pollution over time.
Natural stones may carry hidden variations that only appear during processing. Marble can have unexpected veining, sandstone may contain cavities, and even uniform slabs can have varying porosity that affects polish. While we select our materials carefully, a flawless stone cannot be guaranteed, and this natural variation is part of the character of every piece.
