About the Item

Large puzzle-shaped coffee table in black Zimbabwean granite and Madagascar rock crystal inclusions. The base consists of 4 solid brushed brass supports arranged asymmetrically. Zimbabwe black granite: often referred to as “Zimbabwe marble”, is a natural material of exceptional beauty. It takes its name from the country from which it comes, Zimbabwe, located in southern Africa. More precisely, this granite is extracted from deposits in northeastern Zimbabwe, notably in the Mutoko region. Formed by the slow cooling of the earth's magma and crystallization over several million years, Zimbabwe granite is distinguished by its deep black color and fine grain. Renowned for its hardness, Zimbabwe black granite is highly resistant to notching, heat and low permeability. Madagascar rock crystal : The transparency of rock crystal has fascinated civilizations since time immemorial. Rock crystal is the only transparent quartz. A marvel of nature, rock crystal fascinates with its transparency and light-diffracting facets. It awakens spirituality, even though it is material. Founded by Pierre HAREL, Atelier H is a decorative arts studio dedicated to furniture and lighting design. His creative universe revolves around natural stone (marble, granite, alabaster) and minerals (rock crystal, agates, pyrites), which he shapes, combines and endlessly refines. He has developed an exclusive manufacturing process called “Feuille de pierre”, which enables him to cut stone up to 7 mm thick: revealing an unprecedented and unexpected transparency, a noble material such as marble opens up to light, reinvented in imposing luminaires such as the Medusa chandelier.
