About the Item

This striking 19th century Chinese table showcases exceptionally intricate hand-carved foliate decoration throughout its dark hardwood frame. The circular top is fitted with an inset Breccia marble panel in warm rose, ochre, cream, and muted brown tones. Its softly scalloped outline is echoed by the richly carved wooden surround, embellished with scrolling foliage, blossoms, and a finely worked, ribbed outer edge. An openwork apron beneath the top displays further leaves and floral motifs. The central pedestal is sculpted with intertwined branches, leaves, and fruit, rising from an ornate collar. Three spreading cabriole-style supports terminate in bold paw-like feet. The glossy, deeply patinated finish enhances the carving’s dramatic relief, while the marble provides a vivid natural contrast. Batch 90 SYZZE
