This elegant French Art Deco chest of drawers, created in the 1940s, is a striking example of refined craftsmanship and bold design. Expertly restored and finished in a deep, mirror-like black piano lacquer, it radiates timeless glamour while offering practical sophistication for modern interiors.
Measuring 120 cm in width (47.2 in), 90 cm in height (35.4 in), and 50 cm in depth (19.7 in), this piece stands confidently without overwhelming a space — ideal for bedrooms, entryways, or living rooms. The commode features three spacious drawers, beautifully constructed with dovetail joints, each adorned with freshly nickel-plated circular handles that catch the light like finely cast jewelry.
What makes this piece truly captivating is its sculptural presence: the body curves subtly outward at the front, framed by vertical columns reminiscent of classical architecture. These columnar details are crowned with polished metal finials, their Art Deco lines softened by the lustrous sheen of fresh nickel. The base flows into elegantly shaped legs, finished with refined metal sabots that echo the visual rhythm of the upper corners.
The black lacquer surface is not simply painted, but built up through layers of traditional high-gloss piano finish — each one hand-polished to achieve a flawless, liquid-like surface that reflects its surroundings with incredible depth.
More than just a chest of drawers, this Art Deco commode is a sculptural statement — designed to be admired, touched, and used. Whether holding your wardrobe essentials or serving as a luxurious accent in a curated interior, this piece embodies the elegance of 1940s Paris...
