About the Item

This beautifully restored mid-century modern chest of drawers / highboy, designed by Jack Van Der Molen for Jamestown Lounge Co., highlights the designer’s signature balance of bold structure and sculptural detail. Finished in a deep black cerused oak, the surface reveals a striking interplay of grain and texture, giving the piece a rich, dimensional presence. The chest offers a generous arrangement of drawers, each crafted with dovetail joinery and fitted with subtly carved integrated pulls. The pulls are seamlessly formed into the drawer fronts, maintaining a clean, uninterrupted facade while adding a refined, tactile quality. The drawer interiors, finished in a warm natural tone, provide a beautiful contrast to the dark exterior. Its silhouette is grounded by a distinctive angular base, where splayed legs and intersecting supports create a sense of movement and architectural interest. This sculptural foundation lifts the case visually, giving the piece a lighter, more dynamic profile despite its substantial storage capacity. Designed to be both functional and visually compelling, this chest works effortlessly in a variety of interiors from classic mid-century spaces to more contemporary environments. The dark cerused finish enhances its versatility while emphasizing the craftsmanship throughout. A striking and thoughtfully restored example of American mid-century design, this piece offers both everyday utility and standout presence. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you purchase vintage furniture from Danish Modern NoHo, you're not just acquiring a unique piece; you're also gaining access to our expert restoration services.
