About the Item

Large 19th-century Rococo-style chest of four drawers with a serpentine oak front and pine sides and drawer bottoms, reflecting period construction. The chest features a newer professionally applied layered gray painted finish, distressed to reveal wood beneath and complement its age. Each drawer is fitted with two new brass pulls. The curved front enhances the Rococo profile. Pine drawer bottoms show typical age-related cracks and separation. Additional age-related cracks are visible along the sides and top, with minor dried old wormhole activity noted along the back. Restored, strong, and stable, this chest is ready for use and offers generous storage with decorative presence suitable for bedrooms or statement placement. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. The soft gray paint adds a romantic touch to this serpentine oak chest of drawers. While the paint was added later, the carved panel drawers, curved front, cabriolet feet and scalloped skirt are gently distressed adding to the vintage feel of the dresser. Expected age-related separation of wood is seen in the top and drawers, but does not impact the strength nor functionality of the dresser. The three long drawers all function and each have 2 (newer) pulls but due to age not all close flush to the frame. This lovely large French chest of drawers...
