About the Item

Country French character is beautifully expressed in this painted three drawer commode, shaped with the fluid lines and decorative restraint associated with provincial Louis XV furniture. The softly aged painted patina brings attention to the molded drawer fronts, each enriched with scrolling relief and a centered cartouche motif. Three full width drawers provide generous storage, fitted with simple round brass knobs that complement the quiet elegance of the design. A shaped apron flows across the base, while slender cabriole legs and molded corners give the commode its unmistakable French silhouette. The painted top retains a naturally weathered surface that adds depth and authenticity. Designed for practical use as well as beauty, this versatile chest may serve in a bedroom, entry, dressing room, or living space. Its graceful scale and pale painted finish allow it to work comfortably with antique furnishings, traditional interiors, and rooms layered with collected pieces.
