About the Item

This striking antique American trunk is a soulful example of early 20th-century Folk Art. Hand-constructed from solid pine, the chest features a captivating blue-grey painted finish with a distinctive hand-scraped "fan" or "sunburst" pattern that adds remarkable textural depth to the wood. The front is personalized with the stenciled name "Sally A. Higgins" in a soft gold hue, lending a poignant sense of history and provenance to the piece. Substantial hand-forged iron latch hardware and heart-shaped side pull handles underscore its primitive, utilitarian origins and enduring craftsmanship. Measuring 24.5 inches wide, 13.25 inches deep, and 10.5 inches tall, this versatile chest is perfectly scaled for use as a unique coffee table, end-of-bed blanket storage, or a decorative focal point in a coastal or rustic interior. The piece is in excellent antique condition, showcasing a rich patina of weathered wood and distressed paint that beautifully tells the story of its long life. This authentic primitive trunk is ready to bring a layer of historical charm and tactile interest to your curated home. Add this rare piece of Americana to your collection today.
