About the Item

Pair of Italian Mid-Century wingback parlor chairs in the style of Gianfranco Frattini, dating to the 1950s. Each chair features a high, gently flared wingback silhouette, tufted back panel with button detailing, and a compact upholstered seat without armrests. Original olive green textured fabric covers both chairs and the matching ottoman. Tapered, outward-splayed wood legs carry through on all three pieces, giving the set a unified presentation. One chair is accompanied by its matching ottoman, measuring 21 x 15.75 x 14.25 inches. Italian modernist design of the 1950s frequently drew on earlier parlor and salon traditions, reinterpreting the wingback form with leaner proportions and lighter leg profiles. The result here is a chair that reads as formal without being heavy, modernist without abandoning comfort. Frattini, known for his refined approach to upholstered seating at Cassina and elsewhere during this period. The set shows wear to the upholstery consistent with age and use.
