About the Item

An English oak joint stool circa 1770 with a dark stain, richly patinated surface, and lovely carved details throughout. The seat is made from a single plank of oak with an ogee edge above a carved apron. Its four legs are turned with bulb and ring shapes, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. Each leg sits atop square block feet, between which run stretcher bars for added stability. The stretchers show wonderful signs of wear from years and years of sitters using them as foot rests. The unique details and fine craftsmanship of this stool make it an interesting addition to any space. Perfect for use as a footstool or ottoman, additional seating, or even as a low side table. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition or reach out with any questions.
