About the Item

Designed by Pierre Paulin in 1968 and produced by Artifort in the Netherlands from 1969, the ABCD sofa is one of the most recognisable designs of the Space Age era. Rather than reading as a single block, the seat and back are formed from a run of separate, softly rounded sections that rise and fall along its length, so the whole piece looks like a gentle rolling landscape. This three-seater is upholstered in a two-tone combination of warm cream and chocolate brown and sits low on small castors. At almost two and a half metres long, the undulating profile really comes into its own, and it pairs naturally with the matching two-seater. Paulin did much of his most daring work with Artifort, and the ABCD remains a sought-after example of that partnership. Dimensions: W 245 cm x D 80 cm x H 65 cm.
