About the Item

Handsome vintage MCM (aka, Mid Century Modern) side chairs by Hibriten Chair Co. composed of ebonized wood frames and the original camel colored faux leather seats and backs with button tuck detail. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, the frames have been ebonized with black dye, and they are in wonderful vintage condition apart from a couple small flaws in the upholstery. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960s. It’s time to double your pleasure!!! You’re seating pleasure, that is!! This is a FABULOUS pair of Hibriten Chair Co. side or accent chairs composed of handsome ebonized wood frames bearing straight, classic lines with stretchers on all four sides, and they are wearing their original lovely camel colored faux leather fabric with button tuck detail… GORGEOUS!!!! The ORIGINAL fabric is in vintage condition with an aged patina which we tend to LOVE but they would be even MORE incredible if you decide to reupholster in something new and fun. They exude a strong Mid-Century Modern presence and a minimalist aesthetic sure to be BEAUTIFUL in whichever room they are placed. They would be perfect in a sitting area, aside your sofa in the living room, or in a breakfast nook in the kitchen. Possibilities are endless. Hibriten had 2 companies - Hibriten Furniture Co, and Hibriten Chair Co. Both located in Lenoir, N. C. Hibriten Furniture was founded in the 1920’s by Orrin Robbins and Hibriten Chair Co. was founded a few years later by Robey Robbins. Hibriten Chair Co. was well known for its extremely high quality of solid mahogany or walnut French reproductions and other styles of furniture. Hibriten became a part of Bernhardt Furniture in the 1950-1960’s with their president George C. Robbins and was eventually purchased by Bernhardt sometime in the early 1970’s. Hibriten Chair Company was later acquired in 1972. A fun fact… The furniture on the set of the popular 1965-1971 television show “Green Acres” was designed by Hibriten. Classic presence, versatility, and a renowned Hibriten Chair Company reputation to boot! This pair of chairs is EXACTLY what the designer ordered! Fantastic vintage Chelsea Safari Chair designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana Furniture wearing its original cognac faux leather or vinyl with a teak frame, tubular black metal runners, and steel screw details. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Handsome pair of walnut tone wood accent or dining armchairs with black wool-like fabric upholstery. They are in wonderful original condition. The fabric is nearly perfect. The walnut stained, we believe ash, wood does show signs of age and use but nothing outstanding. There is wear to the stain on the arms where hands have rubbed. We call this patina. Please see photos, circa 1996. Here is a wonderful pair of little black chairs that can go everywhere. Just like that little black dress. This handsome set is made by Haworth Wood Seating of High Point, NC, circa 1996. Most likely they began life in an office setting, but this beautiful modern and sleek pair of chairs would enhance most any living space where you need a couple more places to sit.
