About the Item

This mid-century modern table lamp features a sculptural, gourd-shaped ceramic body finished in a matte, lightly stippled white glaze. The form rises from a bulbous, teardrop base to a narrow, flared neck, its silhouette both organic and architecturally precise. The lower two-thirds of the body is richly carved with an incised geometric pattern combining interlocking spirals, angular meanders reminiscent of a Greek key motif, and rows of chevron zigzags, all rendered in shallow relief that catches light and shadow across the textured surface. The upper neck carries a simplified striped and diagonal pattern that echoes the body's motifs at a smaller scale, creating visual continuity from base to collar. The ceramic's fine, sandy texture contrasts with the crisp, clean lines of the carved design, giving the piece a tactile, hand-finished quality typical of Italian-influenced mid-century studio pottery. The lamp sits atop a round black metal base with a soft, aged patina, and is fitted with a brass harp and socket hardware original to the period. This lamp makes a striking statement on a console table, nightstand, or credenza, its sculptural silhouette and graphic texture drawing the eye even when unlit. It complements Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Japandi, Global Eclectic, and Boho interiors, and pairs well with walnut, brass, and other natural or warm-toned materials.
