About the Item

Exceptional and very rare French table lamp, first half of the 20th century, crafted in heavy gilt metal and designed in the form of a majestic eagle standing on its powerful talons. Lamps with an eagle motif are especially prized by American collectors due to their symbolism of strength, leadership, and heritage. This piece stands out with its sculptural quality: a long, elegant bird neck, a stylized beak holding the suspension for the shade, finely textured plumage along the leg, and an impressive claw-shaped base. The lamp is crowned with a beautiful emerald-green glass shade, which gives the light a refined and luxurious character. Such a combination – gilt eagle body + glass shade – is extremely uncommon, making this lamp a truly unique collector’s item. Origin: France Period: c.1920–1960 Material: Gilt bronze Dimensions: Height: 46cm (18.1in) Width: 25cm (9.8in) Condition: natural signs of age and use. There are areas of gilt wear and patina, especially on the leg and the base (see photos). These spots show the original aging of the metal and confirm the authenticity of the piece.
