About the Item

Contemporary 3D-printed cordless table lamp by Brooklyn design studio Ridezign, the Tesser 8:3 in Cherry combines a compact footprint with a more vertically elongated architectural presence. The design takes its cues from New York City’s illuminated façades: repeated windows, shifting areas of transparency and the experience of catching partial views of interiors from the street. Proportions derived from the Fibonacci sequence establish the relationship between the lamp’s stacked volumes, while alternating areas of density and translucency create changing patterns of light and shadow. Cherry makes this geometry especially pronounced. In daylight, the red grid gives the piece the clarity of a drawn architectural framework, set against softer translucent panels. When switched on, the interior illumination warms the palette and reveals layers that are less apparent when the lamp is off, moving the color from crisp red toward glowing amber and coral tones. Contemporary retail imagery of the Cherry 8:3 similarly shows the strong red framework becoming considerably warmer once illuminated. Made to order in Brooklyn, each piece is additively manufactured in PETG. The visible horizontal print lines are intentionally retained as part of the finished surface, giving the object a tactile quality while helping break up and diffuse the light. The 8:3 is suited to a console, bedside table, bookshelf, dining table or desk. Although sculptural enough to function as an object when unlit, its cordless construction allows it to move easily between spaces. Three touch-controlled brightness settings provide different levels of ambient illumination. The lamp has an integrated 0.7W LED at 3000K, a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery, approximately 15–20 hours of illumination per charge, and USB-C charging in approximately three hours. It measures 3.9 inches wide by 3.9 inches deep by 5.4 inches high (100 × 100 × 137 mm) and weighs approximately 2 lb. Condition is new. Minor variations in surface texture and color are a natural result of additive manufacturing and make each produced piece subtly individual. The Tesser Collection received a 2025 LIT Lighting Design Award and the 2026 ICFF Editors Award for Lighting.
