About the Item

This 19th-century Kashmiri Mughal copper tea set, consisting of a saucer, sugar pot, and milk pot, is a magnificent representation of the region's rich artistic heritage and the influence of Mughal aesthetics. The saucer, sugar pot, and milk pot in this Kashmiri Mughal tea set are all crafted from exquisite copper, showcasing the exceptional metalworking skills of Kashmiri artisans during the 19th century. The entire set is adorned with intricate engravings, featuring a captivating combination of floral, geometric, and snake motifs. Each element of the set is a testament to the fusion of Mughal design sensibilities with Kashmiri craftsmanship. Starting with the saucer, its surface is a canvas of delicate carvings. A central medallion, featuring a stylized snake, serves as the focal point. Surrounding this centerpiece are meticulously engraved patterns of vines, leaves, and geometric shapes, creating a mesmerizing tapestry that extends to the saucer's edges. The sugar pot, with its elegantly rounded form, continues the theme of intricate engravings. The body of the pot is adorned with sinuous snake carvings, symbolizing protection and wisdom in Mughal iconography. The lid is crowned with a finial, shaped like stylized dome, adding a touch of regality to the sugar pot. The milk pot, mirroring the design language of its counterparts, features a seamless integration of floral and geometric carvings. The handle is carefully shaped for both ergonomic use and aesthetic appeal, adorned with smaller engraved details that complement the overall design. Throughout the entire set, the warm glow of the copper base contrasts beautifully with the darker tones of the engraved patterns, creating a visual feast for the eyes. The combination of floral motifs symbolizes natural beauty and growth, while the inclusion of geometric shapes reflects the precision and order inherent in Mughal art. This Kashmiri Mughal copper tea set from the 19th century not only serves as a functional ensemble for tea enjoyment but also stands as a work of art, preserving the cultural and artistic legacy of the region during a significant historical period.
