About the Item

This Silver Hanukkah Lamp by Bier from Israel circa 1950 connects one to the rich traditions, symbolism, and artistic achievements of Israeli Judaica craftsmanship. Bier is a prominent name in Israeli silversmithing, known for producing high-quality Judaica items. Their work often blends traditional Jewish motifs with modern design elements. Israeli silversmiths like Bier played crucial roles in reviving and innovating Judaica art while drawing inspiration from ancient traditions. Made of sterling silver, this Hanukkah lamp incorporates pierced artwork in place of a solid backplate with the Hebrew words " These Candles Are Holy" set on the attached bar. The stepped cylindrical cups and servant lamp are fitted into circular settings pierced into the flat bar that is bent at both ends and serves as the support for the Hanukkah lamp. This design emphasizes both functionality and aesthetic beauty, suitable for use in Jewish homes and synagogues. Hanukkah lamps from renowned Israeli silversmiths like Bier are highly valued both for their craftsmanship and their historical significance. They are sought after by collectors of Judaica art and those interested in preserving Jewish cultural heritage.
