About the Item

A stunning sculptural charger that commands presence on any wall or table. Patrick Horsley's "XII" is hand-crafted stoneware with a sophisticated metallic matte finish, elevated by purple and luminous turquoise accents that catch light in unexpected ways. This monumental piece transcends functional ceramics to become a gallery-worthy statement—ideal for collectors who appreciate artisanal craft, bold color, and the interplay of industrial texture with jewel-toned details. Each charger reflects Horsley's mastery of form and surface, making it a conversation starter for modern luxury interiors. Display as a wall-mounted art object or use as an architectural centerpiece on a substantial dining or console surface.

Large Japanese Pottery Charger in the Manner of Shoji Hamada and Toshiko Takaezu

Large Japanese Pottery Charger in the Manner of Shoji Hamada and Toshiko Takaezu

Located in Studio City, CA

A truly gorgeous, sumptuously, richly, and darkly glazed, hand-decorated large Japanese studio pottery charger. The craftsmanship is exquisite. The piece radiates in the light and features an abstract trailed glaze design. The work is very reminiscent of Japanese master potters Shoji Hamada and Toshiko Takaezu (the previous owner lived half of each year in Hawaii where Toshiko lived and collected both her and Hamada's works). Possible marker's impressed mark/ chop signature along the edge of the lower rim (please see photos). Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian pottery/ ceramics...
