About the Item

16th century Thailand Sawankhalok ceramic ship wreck vase originally from the old city of Sawankhalok known for its pottery. Recently recovered from ship wrecks. From the Sukhothai period. Sawankhalok was located within one of the old Thai kingdoms, Sukhotai, which kilns exported ceramics continuously from the 14th until the 16th centuries. The vase is representative of the 15th-16th century Sawankhalok earthenware. Thai ceramics were widely exported during the shortage of Chinese ceramics.
