About the Item

Dating back to circa 1880-1900, this classical vase of French origin is beautifully modeled after the iconic Medici crater form. Expertly hand-carved from a single solid block of white and gray veined marble, the piece rests upon a square plint base. The lower section of the body is encircled by traditional molded gadrooning. The natural stone showcases an elegant texture with subtle mineral veins and soft golden-brown oxidation tones that confirm its authentic age and historic character. With its timeless silhouette and refined proportions, this French marble vase functions beautifully as an autonomous sculptural accent on a console table, sideboard, or within a high-end conservatory setting. The underside of the base retains an authentic historic mounting point. The piece remains in an honest, structurally sound antique condition. The upper rim and surface exhibit gentle historic wear that beautifully enhances the lived-in character of this unique antique object.
