About the Item

A striking 20th-century bronze sculpture depicting a seated Native American drummer, finely modelled in a serene cross-legged pose and presented upon a polished circular marble base. The figure is rendered with considerable attention to detail, from the facial features and traditional attire to the carefully modelled drum and hands. The composed seated posture gives the sculpture a contemplative presence, while the musical subject introduces a strong narrative element to the composition. Finely cast in bronze, the work displays detailed surface modelling throughout. The bronze has developed an attractive warm patina, with tonal variations helping to emphasise the depth and definition of the sculptural details. The figure is mounted upon a substantial polished marble base, providing an elegant contrast in both colour and texture while giving the sculpture a stable and refined presentation. Presented in very good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and use.
