About the Item

Unique Welded Iron Horse Sculpture by Lida Boonstra, 1998 Dimensions: Height: 81 cm (31.9 in) Width: 29 cm (11.4 in) Depth: 105 cm (41.3 in) Bold, muscular, and undeniably expressive — this striking welded iron horse sculpture by Dutch artist Lida Boonstra is a powerful statement piece, handcrafted in 1998. Meticulously assembled from sheet iron, the surface is unified with a matte black finish that enhances the strength and silhouette of the form, while retaining the raw character of the welded seams. With a dynamic pose — head bowed and one leg raised — this sculpture captures a moment of movement and emotion, evoking both strength and grace. Whether viewed in profile or from an angle, the piece exudes sculptural tension and presence. About the Artist Lida Boonstra (Netherlands) is known for her robust and tactile sculptural works, often using metal as her primary medium. Her work is characterized by a bold formal language and an intuitive approach to volume and gesture. Boonstra’s sculptures explore the relationship between structure and spirit, often blurring the line between abstraction and figuration. This is a one-of-a-kind artwork — an exceptional acquisition for collectors of modern European sculpture, lovers of equine forms, or anyone seeking a commanding visual anchor in an interior or garden setting. The horse will be shipped overseas insured in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US, Euro 825, is crate included. Wear consistent with age and use.
