About the Item

This is a striking 1970s Mid-Century Modern picture frame designed by Felice Antonio Botta. It features a distinctive combination of materials and geometric composition that captures the era’s love for bold yet organic modernism. The frame is crafted from silver-plated metal and natural cork, a combination that was quite avant-garde for the time. The silver adds a sleek, industrial feel, while the cork brings warmth and texture. The design is minimalist and geometric. It has two main square frames—an outer square and a smaller, slightly tilted inner square—creating a dynamic layered effect. This asymmetry adds visual interest while maintaining clean lines. The cork has a mottled, earthy look with natural pores and tonal variations that contrast beautifully against the smooth, reflective silver plating. True to Mid-Century Modern aesthetics, the piece emphasizes form and function, using natural materials and a sculptural approach. This frame is not just a display piece—it’s a sculptural object in itself, ideal for lovers of vintage modern design or collectors of 1970s decor. It's in very good condition overall.
