About the Item

This 1900-1909 mantel clock, "La Vendange" was sourced from France and is worked in plaster, its surface finished in a ivory cream tone. The mantel clock is cast with a grape-harvest figural group in high relief around the clock face. Its design carries the hallmarks of the Rococo idiom, from its overall proportion down to its finer details. The surface carries the gentle marks of decades of use, a patina that speaks to its long working life before entering our collection. Placed in a considered interior, it brings texture and history to a room built around quieter, more refined choices.
