About the Item

A beautiful pair of early 20th-century silver candlesticks displaying the elegant flowing lines and organic character associated with the Art Nouveau movement. Their unusual openwork stems and broad shaped bases create a particularly graceful and sculptural silhouette. ㅤ Each candlestick features a cylindrical candle socket with a broad circular drip pan, supported above an elongated openwork stem. The stem is formed from two sweeping lines that converge toward the upper and lower sections, creating a delicate elongated teardrop motif. ㅤ The broad bases are particularly attractive, with softly undulating outlines enriched by subtle foliate and scrolling details. These naturalistic decorative elements complement the fluid stems and reinforce the Art Nouveau character of the design. ㅤ The highly polished silver surfaces reflect the surrounding light beautifully, accentuating the elegant curves and giving the pair considerable decorative presence despite their restrained proportions. ㅤ Presented as a matched pair, the candlesticks create an especially effective symmetrical display and would sit beautifully on a dining table, mantelpiece, console or sideboard. ㅤ Their combination of practical function and sculptural design makes them equally appealing as functional candleholders or decorative objects within an Art Nouveau or early 20th-century interior. ㅤ A refined pair of period-style candlesticks combining elegant openwork construction, flowing organic lines and beautifully polished silver craftsmanship. Camalot Silverware Pair of Sterling Silver Georgian Candelabra, 1997

Camalot Silverware Pair of Sterling Silver Georgian Candelabra, 1997

Located in Nottingham, GB

A magnificent pair of English sterling silver candelabra by Camalot Silverware Ltd, crafted in Sheffield in 1997. Executed in the Georgian style, the pair combines imposing proportions with the formal elegance and symmetry associated with traditional English silver design. Each candelabrum is beautifully modelled with multiple scrolling branches arranged around a substantial central stem, creating an impressive architectural silhouette. The sweeping arms terminate in classically proportioned candle cups, producing a balanced composition designed to create a dramatic display when illuminated. The polished solid silver surfaces accentuate the sculptural modelling, while the traditional Georgian-inspired design recalls the grand silver candelabra produced for important English dining rooms and formal interiors during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Produced by Camalot Silverware Ltd in Sheffield, one of England's historic centres of silversmithing, the pair represents a substantial example of late 20th-century British silver craftsmanship. They are constructed in solid silver rather than silver plate. Their matched presentation and impressive scale make them particularly suitable as a centrepiece for a large dining table, mantelpiece, console or formal reception interior. An imposing and highly decorative pair of English silver candelabra...
