Albert Ducet
Albert Ducet (Barcelona, 1989) is a contemporary artist whose work sits between landscape and expression. Working primary with paint and gouache crayon, he builds images from everyday scenes and natural settings, reducing forms and focusing on mark-making as a primary structure. His landscapes lean toward an expressionist approach, positioned between the structural clarity of Cézanne’s landscapes and the physical, open handling of De Kooning’s abstraction. Ducet prioritizes color and line as a main elements and use them to organize the surface rather than describe it in detail. With a rooted spirit in romanticism movement, Albert makes prevail sensorial gestures and brushstrokes as visible elements for shaping the composition as much as the subject itself. While grounded in observation, these landscapes carry a clear emotional register. This comes through in the use of color, pressure, and rhythm rather than narrative or symbolism, giving the work an affective tone without relying on detailed depiction. Across his work, Ducet keeps a direct, economical language. The images remain pared down, allowing color, repetition, and mark-making to carry the composition.
