A corridor in a public space hosts a series of windows. Their rhythmic repetition adds a sense of movement, while the harmonious color scheme of beige, grey, and soft blue creates a soothing ambiance. The tall ceiling and the natural daylight filtering through the skylight enhance the spatial quality of the area.
About the Artist
Artist Zeynep Genc explores the interaction between modern urban landscapes and the transitions of nature in her paintings. Her subjects center around Northeastern American settings, themes related to her profession, and experiences from her travels to different countries. "As an interior architect and industrial designer, my selective perception influences how I experience the surroundings and find beauty in the synchronicity of architectural and natural elements," says Zeynep. Originally from Eskisehir, Turkey, her career spanned more than 30, during which she taught interior design at Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University, Ankara. She relocated to New Jersey in 2015 and has been painting ever since. Zeynep paints in the corner of her well-lit and organized living room, listening to Italian baroque music and enjoying a cup of coffee. She spends her summers in Bodrum, Turkey, where her house sits right next to the beautiful Aegean Sea. When not creating art, she frequents museums and galleries, prepares healthy Mediterranean meals, and enjoys quality time with her family.

The window serves as a poetic channel for communication between humanity and nature. When gazing through one, its structure transforms into a picture frame, presenting the beauty of the natural world. Sunlight floods in, a symbol that has long been associated with divinity across cultures. In various religious texts, including the Book of Genesis, light is depicted as the fundamental source of creation. Thus, the window becomes intertwined with religious symbolism, bridging the gap between the spiritual and the physical realms.
