About the Item

This abstract painting by Michèle Destarac is characterized by a dynamic interplay of texture, gesture, and muted intensity. Thick layers of white and off-white paint dominate the composition, applied with energetic, almost sculptural strokes that create a strong sense of movement and depth. Accents of deep red, olive green, grey, and soft pink emerge beneath and between the layers, suggesting a dialogue between concealment and revelation. The visible marks, drips, and scraped areas give the work a raw, expressive quality, evoking both fragility and tension. The composition feels spontaneous yet balanced, inviting the viewer to explore its material richness and emotional resonance. This piece is a compelling example of Destarac’s gestural abstract language, where intuition and texture take precedence over representation. Signed and dated by the artist lower right.
