Artist Carey Parks paints a woman lounging by the pool in Novato, California. She uses a photo of her mother-in-law as a reference. "What inspired me to paint this was the high contrasts and bright sunny colors of the pool and chair," says Carey. The vibrant turquoise shades create an inviting display of summer.
About the Artist
Carey Parks recreates the nostalgia of a family album in her familiar scenes. Some of her works actually take inspiration from her own photographs and places she has visited. She also creates up-close portraits and colorful landscapes. She frequently mixes paint directly on the canvas to create interesting color mixtures.
